James Gallno Vice Principal and Instructor: U. S. History, World History, Business 1a
A Little About Me Nine years ago, Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Pardee and I decided that we wanted to start a Charter School. We had no idea how much trouble that would be! The next twelve months we wrote grant requests, put together a charter petition, had parent / teacher meetings and met with potential school districts for sponsorship. We finally met a District Superintendent, Tom Changnon, in Keyes who had charter experience and was willing to take a chance on our team. Things have grown since then. Eda Pardee has moved on to other pursuits, Tom Changnon is now the County Superintendent of Schools for Stanislaus County and Kathleen Hansen and I are now in our eighth year as Principal and Vice Principal, respectively, at Gold Rush Charter School. Before going into Education I earned an MBA and spent 20 years in health care finance. I then determined that it was time for a change and took time off to go back and get my teachers credentials. I have a Multiple Subject Credential, with CLAD and Business authorization, an Administrator’s Credential and CBO training certificate. I wear many hats but enjoy teaching U.S. History and World History the most. I have always found history fascinating. Mrs. Hansen and I are very proud of Gold Rush Charter School and strive to make it a little better each year.
